Dr. Lisa Gabbert Returns From Sabbatical in Japan
Dr. Lisa Gabbert recently returned from a semester long visiting professorship in the Department of Communication at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.
Dr. Gabbert taught an undergraduate class on folklore basics and a graduate class in theories and methods. As class met on Christmas Day, her undergraduate class successfully caroled the front office of the College of Letters and her students were introduced to mulled cider. Additionally, she delivered a paper at the Folklore Society of Japan meeting on folk beliefs among doctors in the fall, and gave a presentation on her festival research and American folkloristics at Kwansei Gakuin University in January.
